People don’t like being lied to, they don’t like shoddy work, and they don’t like dealing with people who don’t care about them.
That’s it. Ninety-nine percent of complaints and disputes trace back to one of these three things. The sale at your clothing store was misleading. Your brakes still squeak after you replace the rotors and pads. They lost your dinner reservation and didn’t care enough to make an accommodation.
Nearly twenty years ago, we examined the reason for our success in real estate and it wasn’t some slick marketing system, or that we specialized in a particular kind of property. It was how we treated people.
In 2012, our book came out, “Clients First”. It was published by Wiley and Sons, New York, and for a time, it was a New York Times Bestseller. In it, we identified the three keys to putting Clients First – Honesty, Competence and Care.
You have to trust the truth. If it is always the client’s decision to make, they must have the facts as best as you can determine them to make that decision.
Mistakes can be draining. A transaction where you think a property is on sewer when it is on septic can ruin a relationship and undo the goodwill of a hundred transactions.
The moment you care about how much money you are making verses the effort you are putting out over what is in the client’s best interest, you are on the road to perdition and every new client must come from advertising, because it is certainly not coming from satisfied clients.
At Those Callaways, we tell it straight, we have redundant systems to avoid errors, and whatever our client’s goal it becomes our goal. Sometimes I think we become the client in pursuit of what they want.
If you would like a free copy of our book, just call, text or email your request and we will send you a free copy.
And thank you to all our clients for the privilege of serving you.
Plus, Plus, Plus – If you are thinking of selling, now is a great time to sell. Demand is strong, the money is in town, and you may be shocked at how much your house has gone up over the years.
