Are you an early adopter? Do you buy the latest thing when it first becomes available? Or do you wait and jump on with the crowd? And which is best?
Well, early adopters get time. More time to enjoy whatever it is they are adopting, while late comers may get a much shorter time to enjoy a new thing. Then there are the last actors who wait until something goes on sale, only to experience being behind the times while early adopters are already onto the next new thing.
And how valuable is time? Some would say time is something to pass or waste, only to lament later that waste or passage. Others put a high value on time. As we age, a part of wisdom is the realization that time is limited, and time becomes a precious commodity.
What does all this have to do with Real Estate? Couple of things. Our real estate market goes through an annual cycle. The first part of the year, there are early adopters – buyers buying up the new offerings and sellers getting sold quickly. Then come the late comers – buying or selling in late Spring or Summer, only to find a crowded market with longer days on market. And, they have already given up 6 months that they could have gotten on with their lives. Finally, there come the last actors in the fall – they experience less demand, picked-over inventory, and then they run into the holidays, when everything kind of peters out.
What does this have to do with you? If you’re not buying or selling Real Estate, I hope this was at least a thoughtful read. But if you are thinking of making a move, this might be a wake-up call, because now is the best time to make that change.
Plus, Arizona is a winter destination for thousands of Canadians and Midwesterners, who come to escape the snow and eventually buy a home. Every year, a portion of these visitors buy a second home or future home. Early adopter sellers benefit from this seasonal migration.
