In the movie, “For the Love of the Game,” Kevin Costner’s character, a major league pitcher named Billy Chapal is discussing baseball with his love interest, Jane, who thinks it is all about hitting and catching and throwing the ball. She says something about it having nothing to do with numbers and he says, “Baseball has everything to do with numbers”.
I got to thinking about this and realized that while the scoreboard may post wins and losses, everything we do is about the numbers. Our health, our wealth, the time we get up in the morning, we attach numbers to all of these. Which brings me to Those Callaways, eXp. Over the last 29 years, we’ve consumed approximately 100,000 cups of coffee. That’s 10 cups a day – I have 2 and figuring 8 per day for the rest of the team.
An important number we keep is how many homes we’ve sold. I must admit, it’s a little muddled depending on how you calculate almost 30 years of records. I do know we sold 3000 homes in our first 10 years because we did an audit back then. Of course, our average sale was 200-250 thousand dollars, and we sold a lot of homes. Today, our average is four times higher. Anyway, about four years ago, we hit 6,000 sales and were advertising over 6,000 sold for a while. Then it became almost 7,000. Now sometime in December or January, we hit 7,000 sold.
Why this is important? What does this mean to you? It means we get the job done. We get results. In fact, our advertising theme this year is “HIRE RESULTS”. Two words, but they say it all.
Now back to the movie. So, Jane has been offered a job in London and Billy is playing his last game, and I don’t want to spoil it. You should rent it or stream it. But do it with someone you love, because the ending is in the airport, and it is classic.
Let’ s see now, how many tissues in a box of Kleenex?
