It is terrible to be homeless and hungry anywhere, but to be homeless and hungry in America is awful. The Salvation Army serves thousands of meals at the Convention Center on Thanksgiving and at Christmas.
The Salvation Army shelter on Van Buren is the only shelter in Phoenix that doesn’t break up the family. All the other places of refuge call Child Protective Services before they give up a bed. The Salvation Army takes in the kids, and even the dog and the cat.
