Last week, I realized our new office on Shea at Scottsdale Road was at the four corners of 4 great Zip Codes – 85254, 85260, 85258, and 85253.
This week, let’s look at the Magic 85254 Zip Code. Bounded by Shea Boulevard on the south, Scottsdale Road on the east, Tatum Boulevard on the west, and the C.A.P canal on the north, 85254 covers about 13 square miles, 2 of which are in the city limits of Scottsdale and 11 are in the city of Phoenix. But the US Post Office in its infinite wisdom has designated 85254 to be a Scottsdale mailing address. This means about 14,000 households get to say they live in Scottsdale while paying Phoenix taxes and sending the kids to Paradise Valley schools. It’s magic!
Close to everything with major arteries every mile and easy access to freeways, it’s just two miles west to the 51 South, two miles north to the 101 East and 2 miles east to the 101 South.
Enjoying an abundance of riches, there are major shopping centers all along Tatum and Scottsdale roads, too many restaurants to list here and two beautiful golf courses. The Westin offers resort accommodations, and many homeowners offer temporary rentals. Most of the homes were built in the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, but there are many new custom homes going up where old ranch bungalows once stood.
