Who were those people behind all of those “for sale” signs in 85254 with the big bold letters “Those Callaways?” Well I was going to find out somehow, someway and I knew it wasn’t going to be easy.

I met JoAnn and Joseph Callaway in 1998 when I was a fairly new loan officer with New West Lending, Inc. It took several attempts to convince them to meet with the owner of New West, Mark Shaw, and me. The meeting finally happened and the rest is history! Well, maybe not so much, but I’d like to think so.

My first impression of meeting JoAnn and Joseph was certainly a lasting one. One that turned out much better than I imagined. The anxieties I had beforehand were no longer anxieties the moment we exchanged introductions. They immediately made Mark and me feel at ease and comfortable. I was expecting them to be a little more high strung, edgy or somewhat of a know-it-alls. Isn’t that how all successful realtors are? I was certainly proved wrong.

Being new in sales myself, I observed and listened to how they interacted with their clients. It wasn’t a scientific approach. It was one that made common sense. They made each and every client feel like they were their only client. And they knew and understood the real estate market so that anyone would feel confident in choosing them as their realtor. A client would truly feel they were in expert hands.

What I learned from JoAnn and Joseph is not taught in classrooms or written in textbooks. It is from the real-life professional experience of working with them. The most important aspect of my job with each and every Callaway client was to treat them special, then get the job done right…and hopefully not to make a phone call to JoAnn in the 11th hour with a problem. Those didn’t happen often but when they did, JoAnn was right there to assist and support in any way she could. The bottom line was to always make the client happy and to treat them right.

The Callaways’ dedication to the real estate market has been nothing but inspirational to me. It doesn’t matter who you speak to or see at the Callaways to realize that you will be treated with respect and kindness. Don’t let their charming personalities fool you either. Those Callaways’ business savvy is unlike any other.

I am very grateful and fortunate to have assisted Those Callaways for over 10 years. My success and passion for this industry is greatly due to them. What I’ve learned from them, I will carry with me wherever I go.
