Chocolate purveyors from around the country gather together in Glendale to create an annual festival of chocolate delights. The award-winning event is a celebration of not only chocolate but the arts and romance as well. Among the festival’s most unique eats and attractions are chocolate covered bacon and chocolate twinkies available to munch on while being wooed by a Romance novel cover model, trying your hand at some Plein Air painting or enjoying other activities, geared toward families and young children, including face painting and horse-drawn carriage rides. Sponsored by Cerreta Fine Chocolates, the Cerreta’s factory will be open and offering tours all weekend. This year’s Glendale Chocolate Affaire has food and fun for everyone during February 3-5, 2012.

Just like anything is better fried, almost anything is better dipped in chocolate. I was a little skeptical the first time I tried chocolate covered bacon but after that, I now search it out at fairs and local events. I have never been to the chocolate festival personally but downtown Glendale is a fun place to go even when there isn’t an event.

I have to say it gets better every year. I have been the last three years and the truffles and the chocolate fountain are crazy fun. The hot chocolate is so creamy and good it keeps you out all night wanting to have more. You cant go wrong with chocolate or anything that is covered in it. What a great and amazing time!!!!!

I haven’t been to this in a few years (because I work weekends now) but the last several times I went, the Cerreta’s Booth was my absolute favorite where you could “Make-Your-Own” Chocolate Pizzas – they were FANTASTIC!! Additionally, I love the chocolate covered pretzels (rolled in caramel before being dipped in chocolate). Everyone always loves chocolate covered strawberries, bananas, etc… Lastly, who doesn’t love FUDGE? ANY kind of fudge!! After thinking about this, I wish I could go again! HAVE SOME CHOCOLATE FOR ME! :)

Glendale is the “New Scottsdale” with downtown having these kinds of events every weekend. I went again this year and OMG the chocolate fountain, and anything covered in chocolate sounds appetizing. Even had homemade chili with chocolate as an ingredient. The people and the test tasting were amazing. I was completely chocolate satisfied when I left this amazing event. If you have never been, put it on your calendar for next year. It’s the place to be if you love chocolate!!!
